Away from the cage
The Neanderthal's evolution
Months lie between two fights. What happens in that time, Vosgröne shows his more than 650,000 followers himself — and strikingly unvarnished.
- 650,455Instagram@neanderthalbjjMain channel. Fight clips, training, sponsor posts and announcements from the promotion.
- 76,400YouTube@FredericVosgröneThe most personal channel: vlogs, eating challenges, injury updates, weight cutting.
- 75,600TikTok@neanderthalbjjClearly underused — most of the TikTok reach runs through other people's repost accounts.
His channel does not live on staged, glossy footage but on the opposite: training snippets from the gym, technique explained from the ground, everyday scenes, self-irony about his own appearance. The nickname is less a brand than a running joke he takes part in himself.
He trains at the UFD Gym in Düsseldorf, one of the few German venues with international connections. Added to that are seminars in which he passes on his grappling — he held the role of coach in London for years in any case.
What stands out: he does not sell himself as an untouchable champion. Withdrawals because of injuries, setbacks, his own background — all of it features. That is probably exactly what explains why so many people followed him so quickly.

Recurring themes
- 01High
Fights, highlights, finishes
Recordings and clips from the cage, above all submission moments. All of his professional wins so far have been submissions, among them a 15-second finish against one of the strongest German fighters with more than half a million views.
- 02High
Training, grappling and BJJ technique
Rolling on the mat, gi and no-gi sequences, leg locks as his signature, sparring and strength work. He tags other gyms and training partners, such as sessions in Cologne with Garip Ilbay and training with Mirko Cro Cop — more an insight than an instructional video.
- 03High
Sponsor and advertising posts
A strikingly high share of advertising, clearly recognisable from supplement spots, a front-door commercial and merchandise announcements. Of the 12 most recent Instagram posts, four had a commercial intent and were not visually set apart from the rest of the feed.
- 04High
Humour, self-irony, food
The engine of his virality runs more through YouTube and TikTok than through his Instagram grid, for instance with food videos such as döner or currywurst eating contests. For weeks the internet was full of reels about his eating habits, which he plays along with himself.
- 05Medium
Promoter reposts (OKTAGON) and fight announcements
He shares finished graphics and training features from the OKTAGON promotion that follow its visual language rather than his own. At present the build-up to the fight against Karlos Vémola on 26 September 2026 at the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt (OKTAGON 94) dominates.
- 06Medium
Everyday life, vlog, travel
Phone snapshots in mundane German places and backstage pictures from Cologne, Zagreb, Berlin and Frankfurt, some of them with celebrity encounters. Deliberately unglamorous: press reports point out that despite his profile he takes the underground and does without ostentation.
- 07Medium
Own brand and merchandise
Announcement of his first own collection via trichomiz.com, positioned explicitly against the mainstream and large corporations, everything designed by himself down to the logo. The shop carries the line ‘The Neanderthal’ as well as a hand-signed Vosgröne shirt, limited to 420 pieces.
- 08Low
Injuries, setbacks, personal updates
Unusually open for a combat athlete: shoulder injury, surgery, doctor’s appointments, withdrawals from fights and a weight-cutting video. Points of conflict also feature, such as an escalation at a press conference and thoughts about changing contracts.
- 09Low
Medical cannabis / information
A strategically laid out, seriously framed strand around the Demecan partnership, covering recovery, training load, sleep and medical supervision. The tone is markedly more matter-of-fact than elsewhere — here he is an ambassador, not the Neanderthal.
- 10Rare
Family and private life
Practically absent from the posts and video titles analysed; only search queries about a girlfriend or wife circulate, but no posts of his own on the subject. The personal side deliberately runs through everyday life and humour, not through relationships or family.
Vlog
The most characteristic videos from his own channel — eating challenges, weight cut, training, updates. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play.
